Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists help people to do the things they want and need to do despite injuries or restrictions. Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.
Occupational therapy services at Bone and Joint Specialists typically include:
- An individualized evaluation, during which the client/family and occupational therapist determine the person’s goals
- Customized intervention to improve the person’s ability to perform daily activities.
- Teaching you how to get dressed, prepare meals, and manage personal hygiene while in a sling or after joint replacement.
- Instruct you in ways to prepare your home for safe recovery after surgery.
Occupational therapy practitioners have a holistic perspective which focuses on adapting the environment and/or task to fit the person.
Our occupational therapists work closely with our surgeons to provide you with the best care possible. They are able to communicate easily with the doctors if there is any difficulty with your recovery. And they have an intimate knowledge of the recovery protocols for the orthopedic surgeries and injuries treated by our doctors.
